The flag was raised on October 25, at Ken Whillans Square City Hall Brampton to mark the start of the 2019 Poppy Campaign.

Also, from the federal Government Sonia Sidhu and Ruby Sahota join Brampton’s men and women of the Royal Canadian Legion to honour those served our country with pride and dignity.

Members of local Branches 15 of the Royal Canadian Legion were on hand for the official flag raising at 10 a.m. at the community flagpole.

While the Poppy is diversified freely to all who invoke to bear one, the Legion gratefully understand donations to the Poppy Fund. The Poppy Campaign is very much a topical drive, convoy by Legion Branches in cities, towns, and communities across the country.

The Poppy Campaign runs every year, from the last Friday of October to November 11, tens of millions of Canadians wear a Poppy as a visible bail to honour Canada’s Veterans and recall those who holocaust for the freedoms we enjoy now.

Donations calm during the Poppy Campaign are held in Trust at the ramous even to directly second Veterans and their families within their commonness and to ensure Canadians ‘never neglect,  as well as funding medical appliances and research, home services, care facilities and meeting other needs of veterans.

Every year, the Royal Canadian Legion conducts the Poppy Campaign, along with thousands of our members who volunteer from coast to coast to coast, to raise funds in support of veterans and their families. Poppies are distributed freely, but donations are invaluable.

The Poppy was introduced to Canada by Lt.-Col. John McCrae, a Canadian medical officer during the First World War. McCrae penned the Poem in Flanders Fields on a scrap of paper in May 1915 on the day following the death of a fellow soldier. Little did he know then that those 13 lines would become enshrined in the hearts and minds of all who would wear them.
