Region of Peel – Investigators from 11 Division Criminal Investigative Bureau would like to make the public aware of an unprovoked stranger assault in the City of Mississauga.

On September 17, 2020, at approximately 7:00 p.m., a woman was out walking eastbound on Derry close to Forest Park Drive. When an unknown suspect came up from behind, grabbed hold of her, and repeatedly punched her. She began to scream, which caused the suspect to take off running towards Summer Heights Drive. The victim, a 32-year-old woman from Mississauga, did not sustain any physical injuries.

The suspect is described as male, South Asian, late 20’s, average build wearing a grey hat, dark jeans, and a black sweatshirt.

In the interest of public safety, police would like to remind the public to keep any earphones or sound-canceling headphones to a minimum, when possible, walk-in groups, take routes which are well-lit and visible to the public. Especially during the evening and early morning hours, and do your best to be aware of your surroundings. For more personal safety tips, please visit our website.
