Hail to the queen. Trillium Health Partners president and CEO Michele DiEmanuele has been tapped to lead a fleet of public service workers in Ontario. DiEmanuele will take the reins of the Ontario Public Service on June 21, the province said in a statement Wednesday night.
The CEO, who took on a prominent role in Mississauga during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, has held senior leadership roles at several organizations at the past, and helped Trillium secure much-needed funding late last year for new beds and upgrades to its hospitals in Mississauga and Etobicoke. DiEmanuele takes over from Steven Davidson, who had served in the role since early 2019 and played a role in the province’s pandemic response.
In a statement Wednesday night, Premier Doug Ford said that he was “thrilled” with the appointment. “With a long list of private and public sector accomplishments, (DiEmanuele) is exactly the right leader to help our government guide Ontario out of this pandemic as we jumpstart the province’s economy to create good jobs and strong communities.”
DiEmanuele previously served in a deputy minister role in former Premier Dalton McGuinty’s cabinet, as well as in senior positions at Brookfield Properties and CIBC.
