Vaccinated individuals looking to “fly the friendly skies” this summer may have cause for celebration, as the federal government announced this week that it would be loosening quarantine restrictions on travellers.
The feds unveiled new rules Monday for ai travel, with Canadians who have completed both doses of COVID-19 vaccine exempt from quarantine restrictions, beginning from July 5 at 11:59 p.m. Under the new rules, travelers can without isolating themselves for 14 days, having to take a test eight days later, or heading to a hotel upon arrival in Canada.
Announcing the new plan on Monday, Health Minister Patty Hajdu said, “As we have already told Canadians, border restrictions will be lifted when our communities feel safer.” Individuals planning to travel to another country in summer must check the travel conditions and requirements of that country.
The changes will not apply to people who are non-citizens but have completed the vaccination and wish to travel for non-essential reasons, or any Canadian traveler who has not been fully vaccinated.
