The City of Brampton has been acknowledged with a major tip of the hat in a new poll that charts the biggest cities of the future.
The city was acknowledged with high rankings in a poll hosted by fDI Intelligence, a division of the Financial Times (UK). The poll ranked the American Cities of the Year, with Brampton taking home a sixth-place nod in the Top 10 Mid- Sized American Cities of the Future category, a second place finish in the Top 10 Mid-Sized American Cities of the Future – Connectivity category, and twelfth place in the Top 25 American Cities for FDI Strategy category.
“These awards reinforce what we already know – Brampton is a world-class city and a prime location for global businesses to invest,” said Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown earlier this week. In a statement, the city said its Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) efforts continue to focus on several key sectors, including innovation and technology, advanced manufacturing, food and beverage processing and health and life Sciences. In 2020, there was an added emphasis on business retention and expansion as part of the city’s FDI Strategy.
The rankings renew every two years, and for the past eight years, the city has consistently won or placed near the top in categories like Business Friendliness, City of the Future, Infrastructure and Connectivity.
fDi Intelligence takes five categories into consideration when ranking cities: Economic Potential, Business Friendliness, Human Capital and Lifestyle, Cost Effectiveness and Connectivity. “Investment is a key cornerstone of the city’s Economic Recovery Strategy, and Brampton is dedicated to positioning itself as an innovative city and prime investment location for business around the world,” said Wards 1 & 5 regional councillor Paul Vicente. “We welcome fDI’s recognition… we mean business and look forward to welcoming foreign investment in our community.
