Riddhima Kapoor penned an emotional tribute to her father Rishi Kapoor after watching Sharmaji Namkeen, the last film that he starred in. Riddhima was joined by her brother Ranbir Kapoor, mother Neetu Kapoor, Ranbir’s girlfriend Alia Bhatt, and other members of the Kapoor family for the screening of the film on Wednesday. After watching the film, which will have an OTT premiere on March 31, Riddhima took to her Instagram account to remember her father, who passed away in April 2020 after a two-year battle with cancer. Also Read| Riddhima Kapoor mourns father-in-law in emotional note: ‘Will miss you’

Riddhima also shared a picture of Rishi Kapoor, apart from an image of a quote that read, “Legends are forever.” She described Rishi as an “actor par excellence” and the “most wonderful dad” in her post.

She wrote, “It’s been almost two years since dad left us physically; but his charisma is still felt and his legend is still alive and will forever be. Today, as I watch the last film of my father, actor par excellence, a devoted son and brother, a doting husband and the most wonderful dad in the universe; I feel immensely proud of being his daughter!”

Sharmaji Namkeen will be the first Hindi film in which the main character will be played by two actors, Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal. The latter took upon the role following Rishi’s death in April 2020. Riddhima thanked Paresh Rawal for accepting the role, and wrote, “Paresh ji thank you for completing the movie. The family will always be indebted for your kind gesture.” Fans of Rishi Kapoor including several celebrities and his family members dropped heart emojis on Riddhima’s post.

Sharmaji Namkeen, directed by Hitesh Bhatia and produced by Excel Entertainment in association with MacGuffin Pictures, also stars Juhi Chawla, Suhail Nayyar, Taaruk Raina, Satish Kaushik, Sheeba Chaddha, and Isha Talwar. It will mark Rishi Kapoor’s final screen appearance.

The film tells the story of a recently retired man, played by Rishi and Paresh, who discovers his passion for cooking after joining a riotous women’s kitty circle.
