BRAMPTON, ON (September 15, 2020) – Yesterday, it was announced that the City of Brampton will receive funding to install 12 new electric vehicle charging stations at four facilities by the end of 2021. These charging stations were made possible through the City’s participation in the Peel Climate Change Partnership and Natural Resources Canada’s Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program.
With a commitment to being a Green City, in 2019, Brampton City Council voted unanimously to declare a climate emergency while aiming to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generated in the city by 80 per cent by 2050. Electric vehicle charging stations encourage residents to rethink how they get around and promote more sustainable transportation choices, in turn reducing GHGs.
The new electric vehicle charging stations will be installed at the following locations:
- Cassie Campbell Recreation Centre – 2
- Loafers Lake Recreation Centre – 2
- Chinguacousy Wellness Centre – 4
- Riverstone Community Centre – 4
