We all just celebrated Remembrance Day on November 11 by wearing poppies close to our loving hearts. But this story is about when World War II broke out on September 1, 1939, and ended on September 2, 1945. It brought about unprecedented changes in each sector of human life, including social institutions like marriage and family life. During the early days of the war, young couples married hurriedly for the fear of being killed unmarried. The more destruction it caused to the physical world—human bodies fell, houses fell, bombs fell, the more it failed humanity and human life from every perspective; young adults saw their fellow workers and colleagues being mercilessly killed in the streets, in homes, in shopping malls, cinemas, schools and colleges, workplaces, and everywhere, and they felt shocked!
Another tragedy occurred after WWII with black troops, based on the testimony of a black girl who observed atrocities performed against black soldiers stationed in the South. “That simple,” the child said when asked how she would punish Hitler. “Send him over here painted black.” Following WWII, African-American troops were beaten, murdered, and lynched in the name of the “democracy” they had just fought to safeguard. This is on top of segregated housing, schools, and hospitals, as well as almost minimal voting rights. Black veterans helped launch the civil rights movement.
And for those who were already married and serving in the military, the biggest fear was receiving a “Dear John” letter. This is the letter in which their cherished girlfriend or wife informs them that she is leaving him permanently and is perhaps pregnant with “Bob’s” kid.
Love and marriage are your decisions. But love and marriage will continue.
Most individuals abandon love and marriage after a single failure. They forget that love might return. Remarrying restarts life. You must realize that life is an illusion that causes you to lose trust in things when they fail.
Instead of regretting a broken love or marriage, try again to love someone else—you never know what may happen.
Why marry? Everyone was destined to die now or tomorrow, hither of tither, coz marriage caused new relations and more relations invited more tragedies! They suffered mental decline and denied accepting marriage as a decent means of sex and family life.
Every mother was afraid of having a son who had to be sent to the frontier. They were scared to have to receive an envelope with a medal and the address and serial number of their deceased sons in the cemetery, where bodies were buried in groups. Aftermath travel miles to offer few words of prey for their departed souls!
Why marry since it causes tragedies? Why marry since it causes more relationships, more losses, and more worries? No relation, no worries, and hence, no tragedies. Initially, young girls may have denied getting married for the fear of the tragic demise of their would-be young sons. Later on, young chaps
People marry to establish a family and to entertain. Each area suffered from World War II. So did marriage. Young people were afraid of family life because of the conflict. ц The notion of body and sex evolved later due to many events and mental developments. In a civilized culture, sex outside of marriage was considered immoral and illegal.
However, it became a history in course of time ; sex-individual privacy- result: no marriage for sex-sex outside marriage! This way, the marital and sexual scenario changed—marriage and family life faced crisis and decline in practice. They were important before, but work became more important than marriage and family. As a result, developed societies are facing population decline more than underdeveloped societies, where marriage and family life are accepted for a decent sexual life and social identity. They are considered the responsibilities of every man and woman for the continuation of the human race.
There are also other reasons why you would not marry. From a religious point of view, theists and sages consider the body as the output of a sin; the body is decayable, time-bound, and momentary; that’s why it’s an illusion; anything done for physical pleasure is guided by the sin; hence, it is indecent and null. You are supposed to purify your soul by accepting the decay of your body, ensuring salvation of the soul. A true sage and devotee of God hates getting into the maze of marriage and family life. Those people consider sex a sin and therefore prefer to die unmarried.
Whatever the causes, loss of faith in marriage will pose a big challenge to the human race.
