in May According to Statistics Canada, 40,000 jobs were created in May alone. This is the first time since 1976 that the unemployment rate has come down to a low of 5.1 per cent. In 2020-21, it had reached 11 per cent. According to Michelle Slater, director of Statistics Canada, there is a severe shortage of labor in Canada at the moment, which can only be met by immigrants.
