A large number of devotees paid obeisance at Nanaksar Gurdwara Brampton on the Gurpurab of Guru Nanak DevBy Surjit Singh FloraOn November 15, the Brampton Nanaksar Sikh Temple on Timberlane in Brampton celebrated the 555th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, also known as Guru Nanak Gurpurb, commemorating the birth of the first Sikh Guru. This day holds immense importance in Sikhism, as it honors the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji while also advocating the principles of unity, equality, and selfless service that are central to Sikh philosophy. From date to history, here is everything you need to understand about this day.A significant number of devotees attended the Nanaksar Sikh Temple to pay their respects. The main hall of the Gurdwara featured elegant floral arrangements and exquisite garlands. Elegant lighting adorned the exterior wall.

The attendees created an elegant atmosphere by illuminating the tent with lamps and candles. Mayor Patrick Brown of Brampton and Liberal MP Sonia Sidhu from Brampton South attended to extend their greetings on the significant occasion of Gurpurab. The organizers also recognized their contributions. Mayor Brown extended his congratulations to the Sikh community on the occasion of Gurpurab, emphasizing that the residents of Brampton honor the teachings of Guru Nanak Sahib by planting trees annually to promote a clean environment and contribute to the preservation of the earth. Sonia Sidhu emphasized the importance of collective well-being, invoking the name of God and promoting values of sharing, caring, and unity among all individuals, irrespective of their religion or caste. She highlighted that these principles are essential in the current times and reflect the original message of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
