According to the latest tracking data from Nanos Research, the federal Liberals have made gains, narrowing the Conservative party’s lead from a 20-percentage point advantage to 12 points. The Conservatives, under Pierre Poilievre, have maintained a lead over the Liberals since September, but recent trends show a shift in support.

As of the latest data, the Conservatives have seen a decrease in support to around 38%, while the Liberals have risen to 26%. Nanos Research founder Nik Nanos highlighted that the Conservatives, despite still maintaining a lead, are experiencing negative pressure on their numbers, suggesting a possible shift in momentum.

Interestingly, the decline in NDP support, dropping from 21% to 19% over the past month, has contributed to the narrowing gap between the Conservatives and the Liberals. This shift in support dynamics comes as the Conservatives attempt to court Quebec voters, though they still face challenges in the province.

Furthermore, the data on preferred prime minister shows a narrowing lead for Poilievre, with Trudeau also gaining ground. Despite these shifts, the Conservatives continue to lead nationally, albeit with a reduced margin.

These developments signal a potential change in the political landscape as the federal election approaches, with the Liberals making gains and the Conservatives facing challenges in maintaining their lead.
