Brampton, ON : Set to host its third successive season of GT20 Canada this month, Brampton boasts the finest cricketing infrastructure in Canada and has firmly established itself as the premier destination and cricketing hub in North America. Since making Brampton its home from the second edition in 2019, this marquee T20 cricket league kicks off its 2024 season on July 25th.
Named after its namesake in England, Brampton, Canada’s ninth most populated city, aims to boost the local economy and foster community engagement by supporting GT20. This inclusive celebration of cricket seeks to make everyone feel a part of the excitement.
Over the years, Mayor Patrick Brown’s enthusiastic support has ensured that GT20 Canada has become an integral part of Brampton’s ecosystem. It has also spurred infrastructure development, enabling local talent to interact with the brightest global stars of the game.
Gurmeet Singh Bhamrah, Founder of GT20 Canada, highlighted the strategic bond between the league and the city of Brampton, stating, “The relationship between Brampton and GT20 Canada has evolved significantly with each season.
Brampton has proven to be an ideal home for cricket in Canada, and with the addition of global superstars from the cricketing world, we anticipate attracting fans from across North America. This convergence is poised to have a substantial impact on both business and tourism, with GT20 being a catalyst to the growth of the game for Canada.”
While Brampton has already announced its ambitious projects of launching two more cricket fields and a Youth Cricket League early this year, it also aims to build a world class, international standard cricket stadium in the coming time to encourage more and more homegrown talents to take up cricket and excel in the game.
Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown added his welcoming words to cricket fans of GT20, “Cricket has a unique power to unite and inspire, holding a special place in our community. We’re thrilled to host the GT20 Canada tournament for the third time right here in Brampton. Our continued investment in new cricket amenities, advancing youth development opportunities such as the new Youth Cricket League and the exciting City Lands project to bring a state-of-the-art stadium to our city reinforces Brampton’s position as the cricket capital of Canada. We are connecting the next generation to the sport and look forward to welcoming fans from across North America to witness some spectacular cricket action.”
Against the backdrop of Canada’s historic debut at the recent T20 global showpiece and cricket emerging as the fastest growing sport in the country, GT20 Canada continues to serve as a monumental platform for showcasing world-class cricket. It inspires talent and facilitates the game’s expansion like never before.
