His Imperial Majesty the Ooni of Ife welcomed to Brampton City Hall

Mayor Brown and His Imperial Majesty participated in a flag exchange ceremony in the Council Chambers. 

On Monday, August 12, 2019, Mayor Brown and Councillors welcomed the Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ooni of Ife, Ojaja II, to Brampton City Hall. His Imperial Majesty is a well-respected traditional ruler and spiritual leader in Nigeria.

Following the ceremony, residents joined Mayor Brown, Councillors and His Imperial Majesty for a reception with a receiving line the Conservatory.

His Imperial Majesty has been the traditional ruler of the Yoruba kingdom of Ile-Ife since December 7, 2015. His Imperial Majesty was invited to Canada by the Canadian Nigerian community in the Greater Toronto Area. This was not an official visit involving the Nigerian High Commission in Canada or the Government of Canada.

As a gesture of respect and friendship, the Nigerian National Flag flew in front of Brampton City Hall on August 12, beside the Canadian and Brampton flags.
