BRAMPTON, ON (October 26,
2019): At yesterday’s Peel Police Services Board meeting the following
motion was approved:
MOTION moved by Patrick Brown, seconded by Ron Chatha, Vice Chair: POLICE SERVICES BOARD TO WORK WITH PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT FOR APPROVAL & FUNDING OF CCTV CAMERAS ALONG 410 AND 403 HWYS IN THE REGION OF PEEL
Whereas, many of these crimes have occurred along the 410 Highway in Brampton; and
Whereas, a significant number of violent crimes have taken in place in the Region of Peel; and
Whereas, closed circuit cameras have proven to reduce instances of crime and help with police investigations.
Therefore: The Peel Police Service Board will work with the Provincial Government for approval and funding of CCTV cameras along the 410 and 403 highways in the Region of Peel.
“Being a Safe City is a core priority for our City Council and we will continue to focus on providing the necessary resources to keep Brampton a safe city to live, work and play. The recent targeted gang shootings on the 410 have in part been due to the lack of cameras and the quick ability to vacate the scene. We can’t permit blind spots like this that gangs are obviously taking advantage of.”
Mayor Patrick Brown
