RON Chatha was chosen Chair of the Peel Police Services Board for the fiscal year 2022 during its January Board meeting.
Ahmad Attia was chosen Vice Chair at the same gathering. Each year, the Chair and Vice Chair are chosen by their peers at the first Board meeting.
Chatha, who was Board Chair in 2020 and Vice-Chair in 2021, was appointed as a province representative on the Board in January 2019 for three years and re-appointed in January 2022 for another three-year term.
Chatha has been a realtor since 2008 and is presently employed by a prominent real estate agency in Peel Region. Outside of real estate, he has a long history of community service. Chatha is an ardent volunteer who serves on several non-profit boards because she is passionate about community service. He is a member of the Peel Children’s Aid Foundation’s board of directors and has served on Brampton’s School Traffic Safety Council. He is also the current Chair of the City of Brampton’s Committee of Adjustment and Minor Variance. Ron is also a big sports lover, and he likes to play and watch cricket, basketball, and hockey.
“Having previously served as Chair of the Peel Police Services Board, I am honoured that my Board colleagues choose to invest their faith in me again and for letting me to serve in this vital post,” Chatha stated.
On May 23, 2019, Attia was appointed to the Police Services Board as the citizen appointee for the Region of Peel, after serving as Chair in 2021 and Vice Chair in 2020. Ahmad grew up in Mississauga, where he and his wife now reside and raise their three children. Ahmad is a businessman and entrepreneur who has committed his life to furthering communal and social concerns, both professionally and via volunteering. Ahmad presently works as the CEO of Incisive Strategy, where he has exhibited strong skill in crisis management, public relations, and risk management.
Attia is a well-known community advocate and human rights campaigner in Canada and throughout the world. He is now a member of the Peel Muslim Council’s board of directors. Through his voluntary activities, he supports youth mentoring, relief work, civic involvement, and community initiatives.
The Peel Police Services Board is the governing body for Peel Regional Police, which provides police services to Brampton and Mississauga, as well as Pearson International Airport on a contract basis.
