How to sort your waste – Region of Peel (peelregion.ca)

Battery collection guidelines:
- All single-use and rechargeable batteries that weigh less than 5 kg (11 lbs).
- Car batteries and sealed lead acid batteries are not accepted. Take them to a CRC for free disposal.
Preparing your batteries for collection:
- Stick tape to the ends of all rechargeable and 9V batteries before disposal.
- You can also put the rechargeable batteries individually into bags.
- Put single-use and rechargeable batteries in a clear resealable bag.
- On your battery pickup day, place your bag of batteries on top of your closed organics (green) bin.
- If you don’t have a green bin, place your bag of batteries beside your recycling bags.
Convenient drop-off locations
- You can drop off used batteries at many convenient locations in Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon.
- You can also take single-use and rechargeable batteries to a Peel Community Recycling Centre (CRC) for free disposal.
- Businesses with hazardous waste must apply then follow a registration and reporting process to dispose of hazardous waste at a Peel CRC. For details access apply for disposal of business hazardous waste.

Check with your building’s property management for proper disposal options. Your property manager can contact Peel Region to arrange a battery collection service.
