This month, all Peel District School Board (PDSB) employees will be asked to participate in the 2021-2022 ‘Count me in’ Workforce Census Survey. The census will take place from January 26 to February 18, 2022 and is being conducted by a third-party consultant Turner Consulting Group.
The Workforce Census will gather demographic information about the unique and diverse composition of the PDSB. It is part of the board’s commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive and respectful workforce and a supportive learning and working environment.
“I believe this census will help PDSB be more effective and responsive to the needs of students, staff and community and will assist us in removing barriers within our system identified in the Ministry of Education’s Review of the PDSB” noted Rashmi Swarup, Director of Education.
In March 2020, the Ministry of Education issued a report containing a series of 27 Directives with over 54 actions intended to establish strong accountability measures, restore good governance, and to model equity-focused leadership at all levels, with specific focus on eradicating anti-Black racism and inequities throughout the Peel District School Board. This census is linked to Directives 24 and 26 which specifically address the importance of the collection of workplace census data.
The results of the Workforce Census will help to inform programs, policies, set priorities and develop resources to continue building a more inclusive, welcoming, and supportive environment for students, staff, families and community at the Peel District School Board.
The Peel board serves more than 152,962 students in 259 schools across Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga and is the largest employer in Peel Region and second largest school board in Canada. For more information about the Peel board, visit www.peelschools.org.
