Brampton kicks off spring with “Seedy Saturdays”

This is one “green thumb district” you can’t ignore. Brampton will kick off the spring season next weekend with the virtual Seedy Saturday and Garden Show, which runs from Mar. 13, beginning at 10 a.m.

The ninth annual event, which runs online this year due to COVID-19 restrictions, is being hosted by the City of Brampton and the Brampton Horticultural Society, and will feature an assortment of gardening videos, how-to activities and much more for residents in the city.

Residents who are new to gardening or a seasoned pro can learn about a variety of topics, including sustainability, biodiversity, planting and much more in a fun and interactive environment, which will include gardening resources, local gardening vendors, a Kids Zone with printable activities and video tutorials, information on a curbside seed swap program with the Brampton Horticultural Society, and much more.

“We may not be able to gather in person to enjoy the Seedy Saturday and Garden Show this year, but our online event promises to bring our community together to learn about spring planting and keeping our city green,” said Wards 1 & 5 regional councillor Rowena Santos earlier this week. Gardeners of all levels of expertise are invited to the virtual show. For more information and to take part, visit Saturday all day on Mar. 13.
