Brampton’s very own university

In the coming months, the City will be engaging the community for their active support and continue with our advocacy at the Province.

City staff and Council are excited to introduce you to BramptonU, a movement and project to launch Brampton’s own fully-accredited university.

In September 2019, the City of Brampton unanimously took a step towards establishing a Brampton University, with the support of the Hon. Prabmeet Singh Sarkaria, MPP Brampton South and Associate Minister of Small Business and Red Tape Reduction, and Amarjot Sandhu, MPP Brampton West. At the Association of Municipalities Ontario conference earlier this year, the Ontario Ministry of Colleges and Universities also showed interest and support for Brampton University, indicating an openness to innovative solutions that focus on training for the skills of the future, while acknowledging current economic constraints faced by the Ontario Government. City of Brampton Council, staff and Ministry officials are now working together to move the BramptonU discussions forward.
