Diwali Mela 2025

Date: Monday, October 20, 2025

Time: 4 to 10 pm

Location: Sesquicentennial Park, 11333 Bramalea Rd., Brampton, ON

Diwali, known as the Festival of Lights, is a five-day celebration observed by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs and Buddhists, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness. Families and communities gather to pray, exchange gifts, enjoy feasts and celebrate with colourful fireworks displays. Many illuminate their homes with diyas (lamps) and design rangolis (artwork made with coloured rice, sand or flower petals) to welcome prosperity and good fortune.

Event details and transportation

The City encourages attendees to plan ahead. For details on road closures, parking and Brampton Transit service, visit brampton.ca/diwali.

On-site parking is limited. Free Brampton Transit shuttles will run every 30 minutes starting at 3:30 pm from four locations: Mount Pleasant GO Station, Sheridan College, Gore Meadows Community Centre and Save Max Sports Centre.

Fireworks safety during Diwali

Resident safety remains the City’s top priority. Under Brampton’s Fireworks By-law, the use, purchase, discharge, possession, display, sale and offering of fireworks is prohibited. Penalties for failing to comply start at $500.

Residents are encouraged to attend Diwali Mela for the City’s official fireworks show presented by Performance Auto Group in a safe and welcoming environment. Please note that sparklers, while permitted under the by-law, are not allowed at the event.

The City of Brampton would like to extend its gratitude to the generous sponsors of this event: Bell, CAA, The Daniels Corporation, TD Bank and Tim Hortons.

For full event details, visit brampton.ca/diwali.
