City of Brampton celebrates Sikh Heritage Month with event at city hall

Jagmeet Singh will be keynote speaker

Federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh is the keynote speaker at the City of Brampton’s celebration of Sikh Heritage Month on April 26.

The city is inviting everyone to enjoy networking, presentations, live entertainment and food at the event, held in the City Hall Atrium between 6 and 8 p.m.

The event is described by the city as an opportunity to “remind, celebrate and educate future generations about Sikh Canadians and the important role they have played and continue to play in our community and across the country,” according to a city news release.

Brampton Mayor Linda Jeffrey said in the release that the city is proud to recognize the Sikh community by proclaiming April as Sikh Heritage Month.

“An important part of our cultural fabric, we are grateful to the Sikh community for being actively engaged in our community here in Brampton – you continue to inspire us all,” she said.
